This story is a bit of an orphan on a number of counts: first of all, it was originally begun as an auction fic for the wonderful
rhetoretician a year or so back (he requested h/g and 'infidelity'); second, last summer, I claimed the prompt 'fortnight' (surprise!) for
hpgw_otp's Passage of Time challenge; and last, I'd originally thought that this might be part of my F Words series.
Oops! ^.^
In any case, here's a bit of flangsty H/G for y'all. (I'll have the second half of something slightly... less canon up in the next few days!)
Title: Fortnight
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Angst. Parental exhaustion. Impllied parental nookie. Implied infidelity.
Length: ~3100 words
Summary: "Ginny just needed him here. The last thing in the world she wanted was for him to see her body, which hardly felt like hers. The next to last thing was him—or anyone—touching her. She’d had Lily pulling and chewing on her all day, and one or both of the boys tugging at her legs. All day, every day, for the last two weeks."

The
daily_snitch asked for recs of fics involving Susan Bones, another of my favorite minor characters!
The thing about Susan is that, though she really only appears as an individual three or four times in the seven books, she's drawn distinctly enough that my imagination was able to flesh out quite a lot. In retrospect, I think it's the aspect of JKR's writing that I most enjoyed—the quick pencil sketches in the background that seemed bursting with life. (Unlike one or two of her foreground characters, who never really grew much at all.... Draco and Hagrid, say.)
The interesting thing was how the little we found out about her seemed to parallel Harry. I seriously considered her as a possible love interest for the Boy before HBP kinda made all of that speculation moot.
