So, a couple of months ago, I needed to brush up on my French for work. Not speaking—just reading and writing. When I've had to dust off my French or German in the past, I just found a book I already knew well in English and reread it in the other language. This time, though... I read French HP fic.

As I trawled through a couple of French fic sites, I came across this Ginny/Luna, Ginny/Harry fic, La fougue et le rêve; the pairings obviously appealed to me, oddball that I am, and the fic itself did too—nice, flangsty love triangle with three of my favorite characters. Yum!

I asked the author, allain92800, whether he minded my translating it into English; he answered, "coucou , je suis ok pour que tu traduise ma fic en anglais ya pas de pb." Which is to say... Um... something along the lines of "No prob, Rob." ;-)

Here's the first chapter; I'll post them as I've got them translated.

Written (again) for the wonderful aberforths_rug, who bought another ficlet at auction lo, these many months ago, this one in the Harry Dresden fandom—one of my favorites, since it combines the wisecracking gumshoe attitude of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett's books with the sense of wonder and adventure in J. K. Rowling's. The request this time was, "For Dresden: give me something that tells me something about your favorite characters." Well, this is certainly about two of my favorite characters...
